Wedding season is upon us! Each year, we love seeing what new requests and trends the special couples will envision for their magical day. If you are still looking for inspiration, here are a few of our top trends for 2018.
Textured frosting
From ripples to lace to beaded layers, having a variety of textures in your frosting is sure to give your cake the “wow” factor.
Metallics
Silver accents have been popular for a few years now, but even more so we are seeing requests for gold accents on the cakes we design. And we all know that rose gold and Millennial pink are hot colors. Lucky for you we are able to make beautiful metallic designs that are edible!
Naked cakes with a twist
Naked cakes are those that have frosting between layers, but very minimal frosting on the sides and top. Done right, they are beautiful centerpieces that have a more rustic appeal. Topping with berries or fresh floral make these unique cakes pop.
A compromise between a fully naked cake and a traditionally frosted cake could be something like this cake below. Our designers can create a naked cake that is then decorated with exquisite pipping all around the sides. It gives a peek-a-boo illusion and adds a little more frosting for those who love it.
Cutting cake with desserts
We still make a lot of multi-tiered cakes, but we do have an increasing number of couples opt for a smaller cake that is designated as a cutting cake and supplement that with a table full of fun desserts, such as: cupcakes, donuts, chocolate covered marshmallows, truffles, cookies and more!
Bonus Floral Trend! Add more greenery.
With bouquets, centerpieces and corsage/boutonnieres, the hot trend these days to incorporate more greenery into the mix. Rather than tightly bound bundles of a few core flowers, bouquets are more flowing with a wilder look to them. Also, brides are opting to order a second smaller bouquet that they can toss. That way they can keep their beautiful bouquet as a keepsake.
