Moms love flowers on Mother’s Day, but if you really want to wow the mom in your life, serve up some flowers in the kitchen.

Mothers Day Flowers

Not only are they beautiful, edible flowers can add extra flavor and nutrition. No need to rush to the nearest field–you can find safe, food-grade flowers in the fresh produce section, or, more commonly, in dried forms. Let’s talk about a few superstar flowers and the colorful zest they can bring to your Mother’s Day table.

Sip on Hibiscus

Hibiscus is a flowering plant often drunk as a tea. A serving of this flower includes 75% of your daily vitamin C needs and packs a more powerful antioxidant punch than blueberries. You can scoop some hibiscus tea or hibiscus kombucha at your local Price Chopper.

Mix in Dandelions

Dandelions might spring up in your yard this spring, but you can eat them, too. Dandelions can be found in mixed greens and microgreens, or they can be dried into tea or infused into water. Dandelions are terrific sources of vitamins A, C, and K while providing soluble fiber and inulin for a healthy gut.

Stir Up Chamomile

Best known as a variety of relaxing tea, chamomile is an easy-to-grow flower that boosts your immunity and fights infections. Mix mom a cocktail upgrade with a Strawberry Chamomile Paloma.

Snack on Lavender

You can find lavender in soap bars and artisan lattes, and for good reason. With a soothing scent and surprising flavor, lavender provides 25% of your daily iron. Surprise mom with a lavender coconut lemonade on her special day.
