Price Chopper Donates 18,000 Pounds of Food to Support Local Families Impacted by Halt in SNAP Benefits

KANSAS CITY, MO. - November 6, 2025

Price Chopper will deliver a large food donation to Harvesters – The Community Food Network – to help Kansas City-area food pantries overwhelmed by increased demand from SNAP recipients and furloughed federal workers. The donation includes 14,232 pounds of peanut butter and 3,697 pounds of green beans.

In Harvesters’ 26-county service area, more than 200,000 people—including 88,000 children—rely on SNAP benefits. The recent halt of SNAP funding on November 1 left many families without critical food assistance, with Missouri announcing it will only issue partial benefits and Kansas yet to announce a plan.

To address the urgent need, Price Chopper accelerated its ongoing partnership with Harvesters, contributing well beyond its year-round initiatives, like in-store food drive barrels and Check Out Hunger, where customers can make a monetary donation at the register. This 18,000-pound food donation will help fill immediate gaps for families facing food insecurity.
